Expected increases in temperature and extreme weather events raise significant concerns, including the depletion of water resources and reduced agricultural productivity, both of which heighten food insecurity. This situation is further exacerbated by ongoing political instability, which poses additional threats to water security, potentially leaving millions at risk of losing access to potable water. According to the World Bank, agricultural production in Libya relies heavily on irrigation; however, limited water resources, harsh climatic conditions, and poor soil quality restrict production, forcing the country to import approximately 75% of its food to meet local demand. Climate change, therefore, presents a substantial threat to economic development and sustainability in Libya. This research aims to explore the economic and political dimensions of climate change, as well as the strategies employed to mitigate its effects.
