Desertification results from a combination of environmental and human factors, such as deforestation, recurrent drought, and unsustainable agricul tural practices that deplete the soil and reduce its fertility. This study addresses the geographical impacts of desertification on global food security by highlighting the areas most exposed to this phenomenon, such as parts of sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. It also reviews the factors leading to the exacerba tion of desertification, including population pressures, overuse of natural resources, and climate change that increases the severity of drought and rising temperatures. Geographic maps issued by international organizations, such as the United Na tions Environment Program )UNEP( and the Food and Agriculture Organization )FAO(, were used to illustrate the spread of desertification globally and highlight the most affected areas. The evidence from these maps shows that desertification is not limited to its environmental impact, but extends to affect the economic and social aspects, threatening the lives of millions of people who depend on agriculture and pastoralism as their main source of livelihood. The study proposes a set of strategies to mitigate the effects of desertification, including encouraging the use of sustain able agricultural techniques, enhancing natural vegetation cover through afforestation programs, and improving water resource management. These strategies aim to achieve a balance between the sustainability of natural resources and enhancing food security in communities most vulnerable to desertification. keywords: desertification, food security, arid lands, climate change, mitigation strategies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":196,"featured_media":2403,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","format":"standard","research_category":[170],"class_list":["post-6440","research","type-research","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","research_category-170"],"acf":[],"lang":"ar","translations":{"ar":6440},"pll_sync_post":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/lep.edu.ly\/jehivac\/wp\/v2\/research\/6440","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/lep.edu.ly\/jehivac\/wp\/v2\/research"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/lep.edu.ly\/jehivac\/wp\/v2\/types\/research"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lep.edu.ly\/jehivac\/wp\/v2\/users\/196"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lep.edu.ly\/jehivac\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=6440"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lep.edu.ly\/jehivac\/wp\/v2\/media\/2403"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/lep.edu.ly\/jehivac\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=6440"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"research_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lep.edu.ly\/jehivac\/wp\/v2\/research_category?post=6440"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
